Designer, born 1972 in Denmark. Lives and works in Copenhagen. After graduation from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – The School of Design in 1997 including studies at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Cecilie Manz founded her own studio in Copenhagen in 1998. Her designs aim to create simple, beautiful and functional products, ranging from furniture, tableware, lighting and electronics. She says “I view all my works as fragments of one big, ongoing story where the projects are often linked or related in terms of their idea, materials and aesthetics, across time and function. Some objects remain experiments or sculpted ideas, others are made more concrete and turn into functional tools.” She values the process of researching, sketching and refining her concepts through a series of prototypes.
She has received numerous prestigious awards including The Crown Prince Couples Cul-tural Award 2014 (Denmark), Designer of the Year 2018, Maison&Objet Paris, E. Kold Christensen’s Award of Honour, Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres 2019 (France) and many other prestigious awards.
